Any Farmer, Land Owner or Local Authority on whose land activities take place has a right to expect that the proposers, organizers or promoters of off road motorcycle events are applying all appropriate safety precautions for the planned/proposed activities, in line with best industry practice, as set out in the major organisations’ own handbooks, based on decades of good practice and evolution. These safety precautions must be in place before any activity takes place and in terms of the competition infrastructure, the events must be compliant with all relevant road traffic and health and safety legislation.
This Code of Practice refers to competitive off road motorcycle activity and should be considered as a minimum standard for those engaged in the operation or management of the off road motorcycle sport.
This Code should be considered to be a guidance document by all stakeholders and must not be considered to replace the need for a full written [HSE compliant] Risk Assessment of the activity. If the Farmer, Land Owner or Local Authority on whose land activities take place is not completely satisfied with the safety precautions in place, they should seek independent legal and or ‘off road’ specialist advice before permitting any activity to take place.
